Tennis-Badminton Challenges - 1st Edition

April 13, 15, 27 and 29, 2023

Starting with the idea of bringing together Gbleus and Tennis Lambda in a common, friendly and fun activity, the first edition of the Tennis-Badminton Challenge was a great success.

Andreson Carneiro, a member of both clubs, realized that many members of the Gbleus and Tennis Lambda did not know each other very well, so he organized with volunteers from both sides, the first edition of this activity to bring together the two clubs that have very different ways of functioning.

On the one hand, the Gbleus have a larger and younger group of players. The matches are short, and the game mode is very flexible. Players (in free or fixed doubles) invite themselves at random and go to a free court as soon as a match is over. This allows for breaks to chat.

On the other hand, Tennis Lambda has a more rigid format and a limited number of participants per session. There are two one-hour doubles matches predefined in advance, depending on the level of the players. The technical side of the game can be an obstacle for beginners. The social side of the game is done after the games, in the 5@7 at the Club's bar.

Despite the differences between the clubs, the integration went very well. For most of the participants, it was an opportunity to get out of their comfort zone, to take their long-stored rackets out of the lockers, and especially to meet new people.

We hope that the activity will give members of both groups the desire to participate in future editions as well as in the current activities of the Gbleus and Tennis Lambda. Mickael Pallier, a member of the Gbleus, has proposed to rename the activity to Gamma Days (a combination of the Greek letter of Tennis Lambda applied to the G of the Gbleus) and has prepared a logo for us.

See you on the courts at the next edition of GAMMA DAYS!
